The Sleuth Sisters A Carson and Buella Mystery edition by Beth Tyner Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

This was suppose to be a humorist cozy read. However, I simply could not find the humor. There were many target lines that should have been thought out better which may have delivered a funnier take on the sleuth sisters. But honestly folks I didn't get it at all. I'm a fifty plus adventurer with a great sense of humor on our over the hill misfortunes. However from my take it simply looked more like the author was poking fun at all overweight menopausal women. In all honesty the mistakes on the so called "humor" lines were so distracting it simply just irradiated me the more I tried to read along. Maybe it was just me but when I found myself being too persnickety and loosing all interest in the actual story line because I was hunting for another misused "humorless" detail well... that's when I had to stop reading completely. It stops being fun when you find the humor making you miffed at their punts.

The Sleuth Sisters A Carson and Buella Mystery edition by Beth Tyner Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

Nice story about two retired sisters seeking for a hobby. Couldn't help but think of Nancy Drew off to retirement. A bit too thick on the funny bits for my taste.
This was an enjoyable story. It was laugh out loud funny in some places. I could just see them as they got into one jam after the other. I, too, just retired and had trouble adjusting. If I had a sister like one of them, I could have adjusted much more easily and much faster. This book shows there is lots of life and fun after reaching a certain age.

That being said, I did not enjoy the foul language. IMO a person this age should not be throwing these types of words around. It did not add to the value of the story. I know they were not supposed to be classy ladies, but clean language in a book is refreshing. I took two stars off because of this. It could have been a 4 if not for the language.
Carson and Buella crack me up! I love a good laugh out loud book! (Except for the fact that anyone around me thinks I am nuts) They are sweet and funny as all get out!!!! Cannot wait to read more, please keep em coming!!!!!
The main characters are really tiresome. Something goes wrong with everything they do, and it got old really quickly. When the port-a-potty incident showed up about halfway through, I was over it. If this had been a physical book I'd have just looked at the final chapter to see who did it and just stopped reading. Won't be reading any sequels.
A real page Turner and a fun read from beginning to end. Buella and Carson are feisty and funny ladies with a knack for getting themselves in trouble. I laughed out loud several times while reading about their escapades. There were several grammatical errors in book that made it seem like it hadn't been proofread before it went to print, but they took nothing away from the storyline, which in my opinion, was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading other books by this author.
As Cozies go, this was a pretty good story. I liked the sisters and their proclivity to get themselves into trouble while in search of a retirement hobby. It was fun and the author didn't make the mistake of giving these two numbskulls sudden brilliance and deductive reasoning or make them the heroes of the day. It was light and fun and funny. I really enjoyed it. BUT I have to take off a point for the atrocious editing. I'm thinking of hiring myself out as a proofreader. When they "road" in the car while driving down the "rode," I wanted to slap somebody. Seriously. Hire a proofreader!

Edit Another reviewer complained about the language. Yes, there were a few cuss words, but not a lot, and not enough to detract (for me). I don't remember any really foul language with f-bombs, etc., so I'm not taking off points for that.
"I Didn't Get It," and Kenn should probably stick with the big publishers, who charge an arm and a leg and provide a very polished product. My bookshelf is full of such volumes, as I'm sure, are theirs. However, when you shop on , you are very likely going to see books by new writers--authors who are trying to develop their skills, and sell a few stories along the way. Chances are they and their friends do all the editing and proof reading, since the profit from such sales will not support the expense of professional editing.

That said, I want to thank Beth for a very entertaining two nights. I found Buella and Carson a delightful pair of screw-ups, who somehow manage to stick their noses in other people's business and manage not to get it knocked off--almost, but not quite. True the language probably wouldn't be used in Sunday School, but I'm here to tell you, the Sunday School teacher would probably use it in real life. In fact, I felt like I knew this town and the people who populated this VERY GOOD STORY. I highly recommend The Sleuth Sisters to anyone who isn't an English Professor, and even to those who understand real life. If you don't find yourself chuckling as you read, you are overdue for a humor checkup.
